Deborah Lippmann Is Magnetic

Deborah Lippmann has the current craze in polish – A magnetic nail lacquer.

Tiny iron particles are in the polish colour. After two coats, while the second coat is still wet and with the wave of a magnetic wand, they are drawn to the surface to create multiple looks!

Watch a video and see how easy it is!

Nail Pattern Boldness does a great job in displaying the effect Deborah Lippmann's Magnetic polish creates...

For our polish addicts, we have ordered some and it will soon be available during the week of March 18th at Hammam Spa in the Boutique to purchase. Your Therapist will also be able to use them for your manicure and pedicure at Hammam Spa. We are excited to see the multiple looks it will create!

Spring and Wedding Season

Today we did our first bridal party in a while…meaning that Spring is around the corner and so is wedding season!

We love being surrounded by bridal parties and at Hammam Spa we make it easy to host a bachelorette, bridal shower, or a little pre wedding pamper.

Our manicure and pedicure area is an open concept room at the front of the spa. We have four pedicure stations and five manicure stations. Depending on the amount of therapist we have in on your day we can accommodate up to nine people at once.

Our front desk staff with help you set up the room and create the vision you want. We offer a catering company with fine hors d'oeuvres and champagne. All food and drinks will be set up on a dining table in the room making it easier to have a treatment, socialize and munch on food - multitasking at it's best!

You are also more than welcome to bring your own food and drinks (a corking fee does apply)

Because bridal parties or showers are usually a large group, it is best to plan ahead a month and a half to two months in advance. This makes sure your time is available and all Therapist are available and lets you have first choice of services you want and need.

In the Spring and Summer we pretty much have three bridal parties in a week with sometime two in one day!

Contact our Assistant Manager Francesca at francesca@hammamspa.ca for further pricing and to get the party started!

After Wax Care

The beauty of waxing, is that the hair won’t grow back fully until 2-3 weeks! The downside is that some of us are prone to ingrown hair’s and sensitivities…

An in grown hair is caused by the hair being to thin or curly and skin being to thick for the hair to fully grow out of the hair follicle. This creates tiny, sometimes sore, red bumps. Common places to get  in grown hairs are your armpit, beard and bikini area.

Some great after wax care products that help with in grown hairs and sensitivity are Tend Skin and Sweet Spot Labs.

Tend Skin is a formula to be applied daily to the area where razor bumps or in grown hairs are occurring. It can also be applied before waxing to bring out all the hairs and ease the pain. Because of it’s high alcohol content, moisturizing is recommended after as well as a small patch test before to see if an irritation/sensitivity may occur.

Tend skin was discovered in 1985, and has been on the market since with various products and research to the line. It is our number one waxing after care product and our go to for ingrown hairs.

SweetSpot Labs Gentle Feminine Wash, UnscentedSweet Spot’s Gentle Wash is another recommendation. It is for the ladies with a fresh Brazilian Wax. After a Brazilian or Bikini wax, the area is sensitive for the next 24 hours. Your regular body wash way sting a little or irritate your skin. This is where Sweet Spot’s unscented Gentle Wash jumps in. It balances the PH level of your skin as well as soothes and calms the area. Use everyday along with Balancing Mist and On The Go Wipette’s to make sure you are always prepared for anything, anywhere…

Both Tend Skin and Sweet Spot Labs are available in Hammam Spa’s Boutique, visit us today and speak to one of our Skin Therapist for more information!

Brazilian Waxing At Hammam

Yes, it hurts that much.(photo credit: www.icanhascheezburger.com )

Its our most private, delicate area. For some it takes courage, a lot of research and trust to find the right therapist to take care of the hair down there.

With bathing suit and vacation season coming up, so is brazilian and bikini waxing. At Hammam Spa we have a variety of therapist available with different techniques and wax to make an otherwise uncomfortable situation, comfortable.

Amber has been doing brazilian waxing and in the business for over 14 years and Cynthia has been  in the business and doing brazilian’s for 8 years. Both have been at Hammam Spa for over 5 years and are both trained in hard and soft wax.

Soft wax requires fabric strips and adhere’s to the skin and hair, making it easier for the hair to come out on the first pull. Hard wax requires no fabric strips and only adhere’s to the hair, making it less painful and more ideal for the delicate area.

Morgan has been with us for a year and a half, but in the business and doing brazilians for 11 years and only uses soft wax. Tanya also only uses soft wax and has been with Hammam Spa for over 2 years and in the business for 10 years.

Although soft wax can be more painful our girls manage to make it very comfortable and painless for the client.

Just like finding the right hair stylist – it takes time, patience and trust to find the right esthetician to wax your private areas. Amber, Cynthia, Morgan and Tanya all have a well built clientele for brazilian waxing and all with over 7 years experience. Each girl has a different waxing technique, guaranteeing you will find the right therapist for you and your brazilian or bikini waxing here at Hammam Spa.

Shellac & Gelish Designs At Hammam

Take a look at some of the nails we have created at Hammam Spa with Shellac & Gelish!

Ombre nails. Using different shades of one colour  on each nail, lightest to darkest.

A different variation of ombre. A dark colour is used as the base and a bright colour is blended and faded into the tips.

Multi coloured leopard! These nails were done for a trip to Miami and only done to the ring finger nail while the rest of the nails were a light pink shade.

Another look for ombre. A bright colour is used for the base and a dark colour faded into the tips.

Be inspired and be creative with your nails! All of the above nails were done by Kendra at Hammam Spa. Request to see her for these designs or mention a design you have in mind when you are booking, and we will make sure you are set up with the right therapist.

Nail Polish & The Superbowl

What do nail polish and the superbowl have in common?

KE Specialties New York Giants Breast Cancer Nail Polish - NFLShop.com(New York Giants nail polish from the NFL shop)

Last week TMZ posted a link on their site about the New York Giants owner Steve Tisch and his little superstition…

It turns out his daughters painted his toes NY Giants colour red and blue five weeks ago and they had won every game since! So Steve refused to remove the polish for last nights superbowl. In case you only saw the game for Madonna’s halftime show, the New York Giants won!

Congratulations to the New York Giants! And Steve: You might want to keep that polish on your toes a little while longer and see what other great things will come.
